Glucose Management with more Potassium
Both of my parents had Type 2 Diabetes. I am now 65 and am feeling the need to fine-tune my food choices for glucose management more and more. Perhaps you are too?
What I’ve recently learned is that one of the jobs of Potassium in our bodies is to remove glucose from our system: i,e. improve blood glucose levels… Optimal intake of Postassim is 4700 mg per day!
To get this much potassium, we would have to eat 8-11 cups of dark leafy green vegetables daily. Another way to get higher levels of potassium is:
- Supplement with electrolytes with high levels of potassium. One good one is by SeekingHealth, Optimal Electrolyte (510mg of potassium). Another is Dr. Berg’s Eclectrolyte Powder, with 1000mg of potassium.
- Look for green drinks in the refridgerator section of the grocery and check the potassium levels. I have found one by Suja “The mighty dozen” with 400mg of potassium, and another is Garden of Flavor, “the grasshopper” with 441mg of potassium.
- (I am not an affiliate of any of the products I mention above.)RESULTS!
By making these additions to my diet, as well as adding 2 Tbsps of Apple Cider Vinegar, unfiltered, organic and with the mother, (ACV) diluted in a cup of water to my morning routine I’ve noticed I’m not as affected by cold temps, have more energy, and my clothes are becoming more comfortable.
Before taking ACV please make sure it will not interfere with any medications you may be taking! Also, if you are pregnant or nursing, consult with your health care provider before implementing.
